'human interaction with the built environment'
Rauf Sharifov’s project puts architectural effort behind those who are often invisible in the city: delivery drivers. Built using plastic waste gathered from packaging, the Delivery Driver Union Hub is made with and for the gig economy workers who traverse London daily. Part training centre, part rest space, part advocacy hub, the building reprocesses single-use plastic into polymer building blocks through on-site recycling. Rauf tested extrusion methods and compression moldings, developing translucent panels that glow like beacons at night. The plan circulates around curves and overlaps, mimicking the movement of riders on the street. Repair here is infrastructural and social—an attempt to give structure and support to a community long on the move and short on recognition.
