Rather than fighting floodwaters, Laura Dietzold proposes we invite them in. Her project responds to climate change not with resistance, but with adaptive infrastructure that turns flooding into a resource. Located near the Thames in a future-risk zone, Laura’s proposal reimagines flood defence as a flexible and porous system: a retrofitted landscape that filters, absorbs, and redirects. Her work draws on IPCC data, site mapping, and water-cycle modeling to design structures that coexist with seasonal inundation. Repair, for Laura, is ecological and infrastructural—it’s not about returning to a former state, but preparing for a shifting future with empathy and foresight.
