repair for preservation

'the ritual'

Regan Reser offers a retreat for Limehouse’s boat dwellers—a spa that turns water purification into a daily rite. Drawing from the site’s historic accumulator tower, the design filters wastewater from moored boats through wetlands and mechanical systems, ultimately heating pools and generating biogas. The process—careful, layered, and cyclical—mirrors the spa’s therapeutic intent. Regan’s design was developed through full-scale wetland tests, filtration diagrams, and atmospheric modeling. Spatially, it feels slow and contemplative. Repair, in this case, is sensorial and infrastructural: a gesture toward collective wellbeing that emerges through reuse, rhythm, and ritual.
