marginal gains
Amidst underused yards and derelict walls, Anika Deb cultivated something quietly radical: a shared garden for growing, cooking, and gathering. Her design works with the existing—garden walls become supports for espaliered fruit, scaffold frames host climbing beans, salvaged containers hold compost and soil. Developed with residents through planting workshops and seasonal calendars, the project takes shape as a slow-growing civic space. Anika’s repair is ecological and relational: rooted in soil, shaped by time, and guided by the rhythms of care.
